Have you planned ahead for a tooth extraction? In some instances, there may be no time to plan as a tooth must be removed to avoid further harm to your teeth and gums, but it you do have time to prepare, do so. Lay out a study plan on how you can properly rest and take care of your mouth as you heal. Also, take the time to decide which type of tooth replacement service you will eventually want, as a gap between teeth cannot go unchecked, less you have further oral health issues with remaining teeth.

Always listen to the instructions given to you by your dentist for a successful pre-and post-recovery process. If you are currently involved in any bad habits like drinking or smoking, be sure to quit them totally, or give them up at least two days before and after a surgery. If your dentist has prescribed any medications for you, use as directed and as needed.

Get plenty of rest and monitor your mouth and body. Watch for signs of infection or swelling, and use ice packs as necessary. If you were given anesthesia during the procedure, make sure it has completely worn off before trying to eat any foods, or they could become a choking hazard. If you have any concerns or questions, contact your dentist.
